“HORROR IN THE POCONOS”

Los Angeles, CA – October 24, 2011 — California based production company Bat Pig Pictures announces its latest film production “HOSTAGE”, a horror film to be produced and filmed in the Poconos, Pennsylvania.
Movie producer Robert Gordon Spencer challenged screenwriter and director Michael J. Yurinko, a PA resident, to create a horror screenplay that was sharp, unique and budget minded. The result was “HOSTAGE”, a story about Eugene, a man dealing with a personal tragedy of his family’s death by living at the vacation cabin that they last stayed, only to discover he’s completely snowbound. During Eugene’s desperate attempts to dig himself out, he discovers he’s not alone.

The film will star actor Holt Boggs, best known for his leading role in the hit action-suspense film “THE PRODIGY”.

“We have already gained a lot of interest from key industry people and distribution companies”, says Yurinko. A teaser is being shot on December 4th in the Poconos to further the project’s momentum straight into production.
Additional scenes will be filmed in Scranton, PA, Bangor, PA and Los Angeles, CA. Philadelphia based cinematographer Mitch Martinez will shoot the movie and composer Patrick Wilson, a PA native will provide the movies’ score.

In 2010 Bat Pig Pictures co-produced an action packed thriller with Texas based company Skyline Pictures, “Double Negative”. It was filmed in Texas and released on INMOO.COM, the largest authorized independent entertainment theater on the Web and owned by actor David Arquette known from his role as “Deputy Dewey” from the Universal Pictures “Scream” franchise. Working with Skyline Pictures Mr. Spencer is staying busy as a Co-Producer with their pending release “3 Ways To Kill A MOOK” already being considered for a scripted TV show by a major network.

“The horror film audience is the first thing I thought of when I read the 1st draft. Mr. Yurinko is an award winning writer and director, with films that speak to the audience on several different levels. After starting the first few pages I had no doubts that I picked the right man for the job. The screenplay not only brought me in page after page, I began to actually feel uncomfortable in my own home. The rattle of the ice machine, the AC cutting on suddenly, while this is not even close to the subject matter of the film, don’t worry no spoilers here, I was constantly startled as I read through the entire screenplay in one sitting. As a prior combat medic and Army Officer I can assure you very few things have startled me over the years since leaving the service, and this script was pages of suspense, thought provoking terror, and it was just out-right frightening. If you thought you were a ‘Horror Fan’ just wait until we’ve pooled the talents of Mr. Yurinko, Mr. Martinez, Mr. Wilson, and of course a seasoned professional actor, Holt Boggs you may just never sleep with both eyes closed again”, says Spencer.
