Announcing BALDY FOR THE BLIND, a documentary about 11 blind students attempting to summit Mt. Baldy.
Los Angeles, CA – Filipina director, Drea Castro, and her husband, Jimmy Sireno, are currently filming the feature length documentary, BALDY FOR THE BLIND. BALDY FOR THE BLIND is the story of 11 blind students attempting to summit the highest peak in Los Angeles County. Boasting a height of 10,068 feet, Mt. Baldy is the ultimate challenge for this unique group. The film showcases their expedition into great heights, featuring their varying levels of visual impairment, diversity, and extraordinary desire to realize their goals. Led by mountaineer Chris Lynch, the students experienced a series of 7 training hikes over a total of 4 months, preparing them for one of the biggest achievements of their lives. On July 17, 2010, the team accomplished their goal, reaching the summit at 3 pm PST. Drea and Jimmy continue to film and will begin post production in October. About Drea Castro:
Drea Castro directed the award winning short film “The Unknown” (Soul Recognition Award at the Boston International Film Festival”). Prior to film, she directed several theater productions including “Waiting for Godot,” “Carnality”, and “Death of a Salesman.” This marks her first feature film documentary. She is also an actress who has been seen in films such as “I Think I Love My Wife” (Opp. Chris Rock), Baby Mama (Opp. Tina Fey/Sigourney Weaver), and “Fountain of Flight” (Opp. Carlos Alazraqui of “Reno 911”). www.dreacastro.com

Jimmy Sireno has worked as a professional video editor for 8 years on projects ranging from corporate videos, movie trailers, short films, and news style interviews.
