The Eerie Digest Travels to Hollywood

by Joseph J. O’Donnell

On November 7th The Eerie Digest traveled to Hollywood to catch the World Premier of Damian Chapa’s film, ‘Brando- Unauthorized’.

We had touched down in LAX slightly ahead of time on our American Airlines flight and caught the Super Shuttle service to our hotel on Wilshire Boulevard in the Westwood section of Los Angeles. Our home-away-from-home was the Hotel Palomar LA managed by Danielle DeHostos, and one of it’s in-house restaurant managers, Lucas Lazonick who both offered genuine hospitality and attention to detail, that I found very impressive. It’s close proximity to the UCLA campus and the goal of our visit, The Majestic Crest Theater where the premier was held, gave us easy access to our main destination. As a member of the Kimpton Hotels and Restaurant chain, it surely must be the jewel in their crown, as per this person’s experience.

Calista Carradine

Aside from the film premier, which we will mention in another article, the magazine’s publisher, Joseph J. O’Donnell, attended the American Film Markets film festival event at the beautiful Viceroy Hotel in Santa Monica. There he met up with producer Jeff Bonilla who we had interviewed in our September, 2010 issue of our magazine. The evening was delightful and we were able to meet many of Hollywood’s finest, including Mark W. Gray of Rocket Pictures; Shelley Michelle, known as Hollywood’s Body Double, for many of the silver screen’s actresses. Shelley is also the producer of the ‘Hollywood Sizzle’; Producer Todd Brown, of Alpine films; and Rochelle, president of Chefwear. We were also introduced to Paul Shultz of ‘ Musician’s Supply Shop, and to Calista Carradine, daughter of the late actor, David Carradine, who was delightful in every way.

Jeff Bonilla is in the process of creating a number of imaginative, and promising, reality shows that we hope to see in the near future on television. As our host for this side trip we found him warm and personal, and he offered us a lot of good insight on how Hollywood works. His candor offered us a glimpse into Hollywood that few on the outside are unaware of, and will help this magazine get a clearer view of how the film industry operates.

Other venues that we attended included the ‘after premier party’ for ‘Brando- Unauthorized’ at the Warehouse Restaurant in Marina Del Rey, where we were met by a number of fascinating Hollywood personalities that we will be interviewing in several upcoming issue of The Eerie Digest. We have also met with a number of Producers, Writers, and Directors who we hope to entice with Mr. O’Donnell’s writing for conversion into television and film. All-in-all this has been one fascinating and informative trip.
