J&J Movie Review- X-Men: Days of Future Past

x-men-days-of-future-past-movie-poster1   For another of our Summer movie reviews we had chosen X-Men: Days of Future Past as an exciting addition to the season’s lineup of films. We attended the movie in the Manassas Regal Cinema just off of Rte. 235 and Interstate 66. We found this theater most comfortable and the parking was excellent. We also attended the film during the weekend matinee. This made the viewing more pleasurable as we did not have to deal with large crowds.

The film was one of the better action films in this series. It links a lot of the other films in the X-Men stories together but also digs deep into each of the characters personalities as well. This makes for a more solid story line for the film.

Hugh Jackman (Logan/ Wolverine) plays a strong character throughout the film. So does Jennifer Lawrence (Raven/ Mystique). James McAvoy and Patrick Stewart share the past and future roles for the character of Professor Xavier . Ian McKellen and Michael Fassbender portray Magneto in the same light. The Beast has also two actors portraying him for different time periods, Nicholas Hoult and Kelsey Grammer, which adds to the effects of aging. Several young actors portray Charles Xavier and Raven at earlier ages, too.

We see the characters mature in the film and there is great drama added to their roles. A series of back-and-forth scenes makes the film gel together. A host of other actors portraying various characters widens the scope of the story and strengthens the theme of the film. Action film lovers will not want to miss this film and we recommend it for X-men fans as well. We rate the film as a ‘Must-See’ and the DVD, when it comes out, will be a nice addition to fan’s collections.
